The Bible says that Christians, as God’s disciples, will produce much fruit,
John 15:8 “This is to my Father’s glory, that you bear much fruit, showing yourselves to be my disciples.”
So I would like to take this opportunity to let more people know about Jesus through my journey in becoming a Christian. And may my testimony bear much fruit for God’s Kingdom.
I attended Catholic schools for my primary and secondary education. I have always believed that there is a God, but in my childhood days, I would never spend any time praying or reading scriptures and never committed my life to Jesus. Even after I started working, I used to spend most of my time on advancing my career and enjoying life’s pleasures. I prefer living in the world and the freedom that I can have without trusting God.
I worked diligently for almost 20 years and spent money on material goods for my own satisfaction and fulfilment. I presumed those were my rewards for happiness. When I was young, I never felt guilty neglecting my most precious health during that time and the quality bonding time that I could have spent with my family.
I did pray whenever I faced difficulties and amazingly God did answer my prayers. He answered my prayers and healed me completely when my health conditions were not ideal at that time.
But I still did not receive Jesus as my personal saviour.
In October 2015, my sister-in-law (Crystal) and I encouraged my nephew Wen Han to attend the Sunday Service at Living Praise Presbyterian Church. We believe the service will not only provide good teaching but also a good circle of friends for him to grow up with. To show our support in this, we have been accompanying him to the service. From there, I attended the discovery class and learned about God and His Word. I realised I would have to change my life and follow God.
I remembered the evening of 5th June 2016. It was an extremely quiet evening, there was no one else in my room except myself. I was holding the Bible in a peaceful state of mind and was wondering which chapter to read for that particular night.
Out of the blue, there was a bolt of energy which began circulating slowly throughout my body. As this energy travelled upwards, it was like every cell in my body was energised. The experience lasted probably only a second or two.
Without a second thought, I immediately said the sinner’s prayer and confessed my sins to God and accepted Jesus as my personal saviour. I was being filled with the precious divine Spirit of God. Without any doubt, at that moment, I knew I received the power of God. This was a miraculous experience that made a big positive change in me.
God called me many times and gave me chances after chances to turn to Him. God has performed an amazing act of grace in my life and it is my personal ministry to tell others about it. Through everything, I can look back and see God’s mighty hand of grace applied at just the right time in my life.
He sustained me for His purpose, leading me to a godly life and now I live to glorify Him. I am forever humbled that God’s grace came upon me. Jesus Christ guides me in the ways of truth and has strengthened my spirit through faith. I pray that I will continue to walk closely with Jesus for the rest of my life. Amen
