I am the only child in my family. My father was an accountant and my mother an account clerk. My mother was the first in my family to accept Christ, when I was in primary one. She brought me to church and Sunday School. I learnt a lot about God and teachings from the Bible through stories she told me, as well as from books she bought for me. She has chronic arthritis with frequent flareups and hospitalisations, but we have always drawn our strength from God. I served God in the youth fellowship during secondary school. In 2003, I went to the UK to study medicine, and I continued to serve God in the Chinese Christian Fellowship there.
I came to Singapore in 2007 to work as a medical officer. Working hours were long and I often had to work on Sundays. As a result I went to church less and less frequently. Both my parents fell ill during the 2007 to 2009 period and returned to the Lord. I gradually began to rely on my own strength rather than guidance from God in my day-to-day work.
But at the end of 2015, my wife (Candice) and I decided to find a church near our home and we found Living Praise Presbyterian Church through its website. We were touched by the sincerity and godliness of the brothers and sisters in Christ here in LPPC. We eventually joined a cell group led by Elder Jimmy Tan. In the cell group we felt welcome and loved, and benefited a lot from studying the Bible together. I feel that I have once again been drawn closer to God through the fellowship in LPPC. I appreciate the support of the church and I hope that I can continue to grow spiritually in LPPC.
